Teachers and child care professionals use the Child Development Review Parent Questionnaire at intake or before Parent Teacher conferences and the Teachers' Observation Guide for ongoing assessment. They then integrate the information they gather in the classroom with parents' observations to measure the child's progress, strengthen relationships with parents and increase communication.
The CDR Parent Questionnaire is sent out prior to conferences and gives the teacher a "head's up" on parents' questions or concerns. It includes a child development chart on the back side. Using the TOG over the course of the year helps the teacher to track the development of each child over time. It also gives her something concrete to show parents and to keep for herself to appreciate each individual child's progress.
